PAREID

Département : Meuse

Blason de Pareid/Coat of arms (crest) of {{PAGENAME
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on March 4, 2022.

The dove is the symbol for St. Remigius, the local patron saint. The arrows symbolise the fact that the church was also a defence tower and the arrows could be shot from slits from the tower. The red field refers to the suffering of the area during the First World War and also in previous wars.

The chief is based on the arms of the Duchy of Bar, to which the village historically belonged. The bordure is a canting element, the name can be derived from the Latin paries : wall or fence.

The branches are those of the beeches and other trees of the Pareid forest.
