GARRIGUES

Département : Hérault

Blason de Garrigues (Hérault)/Arms (crest) of Garrigues (Hérault)
Official blazon
French D’or au chêne de sinople fûté de sable et terrassé de gueules; au chef d'azur chargé de trois monts isolés, chacun de trois coupeaux, d'argent.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms show a type of oak tree, locally known as a 'garric' and thus a canting element. The base is red for the iron-rich and dry soil of the area. The chief shows three limestone hills, which can be found in the municipality. The blue refers to the blue skies.
