VIII FIGHTER COMMAND, USAAF

History: Constituted as VIII Interceptor Command on 19 January 1942. Activated on 1 February 1942. Redesignated VIII Fighter Command in May 1942. Moved to the United Kingdom May-July 1942 and served with the Eight Air Force until after V-E- Day. Inactivated in the UK on 20 March 1946 and Disbanded on 8 October 1948.
