5TH REPLACEMENT BATTALION, US ARMY

Coat of arms (crest) of the 5th Replacement Battalion, US Army

Official blazon

Description: A gold colored metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold pheon, point down, on a blue background bearing in its shank four gold arrows, points down, all beneath a gold scroll bearing the inscription “SERVICE FIRST” in black letters.

Origin/meaning

The pheon, a symbol for mobility and speed, with the arrows, allude to the Battalion’s capabilities in the movement of replacements to gaining units. The pheon further alludes to the Roman number five, present designation of the battalion. The four arrows refer to the four battle honors earned in World War II. The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 January 1967.

NOTE: This battalion was never authorized a coat of arms.
