Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: A maroon heater shield with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border with an attached maroon rectangular scroll above the shield edge white; on the shield issuing from base a white ram affronté. On the scroll the inscription “BANGOR” in white letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. The overall dimensions of shield and scroll 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 inches (5.08 cm) in width.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of an arced shield blazoned: Sanguine a ram’s head caboshed below a mullet Argent, on an arced chief of the like three pine trees Vert. Attached above the shield a Maroon scroll inscribed “18 BANGOR 61” in Silver letters. Attached below the shield a Maroon scroll inscribed “PRIDE COURAGE” in Silver letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Maroon and white are the school colors. The ram is the school mascot. The star alludes to achievement. The white pine trees are indicative of the school’s location in a forested area.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved on 3 December 1968. The Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 23 June 1989.
