HARPSTEDT
State: Niedersachsen
District (Kreis): Oldenburg (until 1979 Grafschaft Hoya)
Samtgemeinde: Samtgemeinde Harpstedt
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms show a canting harp, which first appears on the seals of the town from the 18th century. On most old images the harp is placed on a divided shield, but sometimes on a plain blue shield (thus resembling the arms of Ireland). The origin of the background is not known.
