The Badge shows the Personal Arms of Admiral Jhr. Jan Hendrik van Kinsbergen (1735-1819) who had a distinguished Career in Russian and Dutch Service. He was responsible for modernising the Navy in many areas. The Badge was approved 23 April 1953.
