The Badge shows the Coat of Arms of the Evertsen Family of Zeeland. Various members of the Family served as Navy Officers during the 17th and 18th Centuries. In 1950 the Destroyer then named Evertsen (in service 1946-1962) was presented with a Shield bearing the Evertsen Coat of Arms by the Evertsen Family. After the Destroyer mentioned the name has been borne by two Frigates, 1st in Service 1967-1989 and the Second in Service since 2005. The badge was approved 16 July 1952.
