For the emblem of 981 Squadron, the emblem of the former Depot Jet Engines, also Woensdrecht Airbase, has been chosen. On an azure background, a hexagonal figure of sinopel with a sable edge is included in the center. This symbolizes the connection with the municipality of Woensdrecht and the 'old field'. Surrounded by the orange sun from the kite wing and 2 silver bands that symbolize the 2 Scheldt rivers. Surrounded by a turbine wheel of 24 blades in silver, which refers to the former jet engine workshop. The motto "begin and finish" refers to the nature of the flight company:the flight begins at the take-off and is only completed with a successful landing. This spell also applies to the task of 981 Squadron; it starts with the receipt of the components and ends with the shipment of the repaired or modified component. | |||

Origin/meaning
