Origin/meaning

The gironny is reminiscent of the sun's rays and phonetically to the name of the town.

The village was located on the front line during World War I and was completely destroyed and then rebuilt. The chief's two Latin crosses represent the two cemeteries of soldiers who died for their homeland, one French with 1,400 graves and the other German with 5,500 graves.
