Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a shield-shaped embroidered device 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width overall, blazoned: Per bend Purpure and Argent, a bendlet Sable. Overall a knight’s helmet closed and reversed Proper detailed and shaded of the third, highlighted White and garnished of the first. Attached above the shield, a Purple scroll inscribed “WEST BLADEN” in Silver Gray block letters edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: On a Silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height, consisting of a shield-shaped emblem blazoned: Purpure, two arms embowed and vambraced conjoined in a shoulder palette at nombril point, each hand in a gauntlet grasping a sword borne saltirewise Proper. A chief per pale Argent and White bordered of the first bearing a spur rowel of six points counterchanged and pierced of the field. Attached below the shield, a Silver scroll inscribed “KNIGHTS” in Purple letters.
Origin/meaning
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Purple, silver and white are the school colors. The “KNIGHT” is the school sports mascot.
Shoulder Loop Insignia: A rowel spur is an accruement symbolizing the achievement of knighthood as well as the two arms vambraced and gauntlets grasping swords. The school colors are purple, silver and white. The school sports mascot is “KNIGHTS”.
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 21 November 2001.
