LISSEY
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on June 5, 2015.
The upper part shows the dove and ampoule, symbols of the local patron saint, St. Remigius. The lion is taken from the arms of the Duchy of Luxembourg, to which the area historically belonged.
The tower represents the small castle that once existed in the village (it still existed during the siege of Jametz in 1588, Pierre Vuarin also mentions it in his journal during the Marshal de Châtillon's campaign (1637)).
The grape branch refers to the importance of viticulture in Lissey and the reputation of its wine.
Lissey obtained the Croix de guerre from 14-18. The oak branches illustrate the beautiful forests of Lissey.
