AHÉVILLE
Département:Vosges
French | De sinople à l'aigle d'or adextrée d'une lance romaine d'argent et senestrée d'une main de justice du même. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on January 25, 2019.
The eagle is a canting element for the name of the village in the 12th century, namely Aquilevilla (eagle-town in Latin).
The Roman spear refers to Saint Quirinius of Neuss, patron saint of the parish. The sceptre, or hand-of-justice, refers to the historical courts that took place in the town.
The green field refers in particular to the deciduous forests and fir trees surrounding the town.
