The first quarter show s the fleur-de-lys of France, the fourth the lion of Nassau-Saarbrücken and refer to the fact that in 1770 the Counts of Nassau-Saarbrücken ceded the village to France. The two other quarters refer to the mining (mine building in second quarter) and industry (cooling tower in third quarter) in the municipality.
