Origin/meaning
The arms are based on the following legend: during the early middle ages a monk arrived to found an abbey in what is now Draguignan, but a Dragon already lived in this area. The people of the nearby town were terrified by it but not the monk who defied and killed the dragon. The monk named the town Draguignan (city of the Dragon) and also supposedly granted the arms.
