Official blazon
In keel drie rozen van zilver. Approved 8 February 1952.
Origin/meaning
The Badge show the Personal Arms of Willebrord Snellius (1580-1626), professor of Mathematics at the University of Leiden. His work was of great importance to hydrographic cartography. He also laid the foundations for a method to measure angles by means of trigonometry. The name was used by a Survey Vessel in service 1952-1973, replaced by a new ship in service since 2003.
