Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in September 2019.

The colours azure and gold are based on the arms of successive overlords: the Diocese of Verdun and the Prince of Condé before 1790. Gules and gold are those of the Duke of Lorraine, Charles III.

The mitre refers to Saint Martin, Bishop of Tours and the patron saint of the parish. The mill iron indicates that once a mill was established on the Forges river in the hamlet of Raffécourt. The spur wheel illustrates an nnual horse race (the Flon) which used to take place at Pentecost.

The lightning bolts refer to the fact that in June and July 1944 in a house of the village, Colonel Grandval coordinated in all directions the resistance of the FFI in the northeast (Lorraine, Alsace, Champagne, Ardennes).

The jays evoke the oaks and the other trees of the surrounding forest.
