Origin/meaning

The first quarter shows the arms of the Franche-Comté region. The fourth quarter refers to the story of the Sultane of Chatelay, Jeanne Lanternier, who was the wife of the Sultan of Morocco. The star on red is taken from the flag of Morocco. The tower is a canting element for the name of the town ('small castle').
