Origin/meaning
The chief is based on the arms of the Provence and the quartered shield is based on the arms of Savoy.
The 1st quarter shows the coat of arms of David d'Hugues, governor in 1630 of the Fort du Lauzet. The 2nd quarter showss the coat of arms of the Caire family, former lords. The chamois is the emblematic animal of Lauzet and the fleur-de-lis recalls the periods during which Le Lauzet was part of the kingdom of France.
