STARÁ ĽUBOVNÁ

Province : Prešov
District (okres) : Stará Ľubovňa

Stará Ľubovňa (Erb, znak)
Official blazon
Slovak blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 20, 1991.

Origin/meaning

The arms show St. Nicolas, patron saint of the city. The saint is already used on the oldest seal of the city, dating from the 2nd half of the 14th century.
In 1976 the city adopted the new arms, which were only granted in 1991, whereas previously the city used arms with a single tower, symbol for the local castle ruin.
