36TH INTELLIGENCE SQUADRON, US AIR FORCE

History: Constituted 28 Observation Squadron on 1 Jul 1942. Activated on 17 Jul 1942. Redesignated: 28 Reconnaissance Squadron (Fighter) on 2 Apr 1943; 28 Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron on 11 Aug 1943; 36 Photographic Mapping Squadron on 9 Oct 1943; 36 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron on 29 Mar 1944. Inactivated on 20 Feb 1946. Redesignated 36 Tactical Intelligence Squadron, and activated, on 1 Sep 1990. Redesignated: 36 Air Intelligence Squadron on 1 Nov 1991; 36 Intelligence Squadron on 1 Oct 1993.
