Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: A blue circular insignia edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) inch white border between two attached blue arced scrolls edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, one above and one below the circle, on which is centered a white head of a bulldog wearing a white spiked collar, detailed blue; on the top scroll the inscription “JORDAN,” on the bottom scroll the inscription “BULLDOGS” in white letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in width. The overall dimensions 3 1/16 inches (8.10 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel insignia 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield divided horizontally into two equal halves blue over white, the lower half bearing a gold demi-sun in splendor surmounted by a gold bear on a green mound. Attached below the shield an arced blue scroll inscribed “LOS ANGELES USD” in gold letters.
Origin/meaning
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved 11 March 1975. The Shoulder Loop Insignia was originally approved 20 November 1931. It was amended on 10 May 1976 to add a motto scroll.
