Origin/meaning

The two stones ar ethe symbol of St. Stephen, patron saint of the cathedral chapter of Metz, to which the village historically belonged. The nails are a symbol of the church of Verdun, which had several possessions in the village. The spear is the symbol of St. Maurice, the local patron saint.
