Territory : Puerto Rico

Arms (crest) of Cayey

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms of Cayey were designed in 1973 as a celebration of foundation of the town in 1773.

It is one of the few modern shields in Puerto Rico. The red bull represents the symbol of the town because the highest point in the town is called Monte El Torito (Bull's Mountain). The three mountains represent the mountainous region of Cayey, with its three highest points, El Torito, El Gato y La Santa. The blue stream represents LaPlata river which crosses the town.
