Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on February 16, 1999.

The blue field and the buckwheat harrow are taken from the arms of the family of Rochereau, Lord of Hauteveille, who owned a castle between Chevaigné and Charchigné.

Blue is also the main color of Maine, the old province where Chevaigné is located. The lion also is a symbol of the province of Maine.
