Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1656 by Emperor Ferdinand III.

The arms show a city and between the towers the arms of Maximilian Rudolf von Schleinitz the first Bishop of Litoměřice from 1655-1675. The bishop had requested city rights for the town in his diocese, the arms were a result of the granting of these rights.
