SAINT-MAURICE-SUR-MOSELLE

Département : Vosges

Blason de Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle
Official blazon
French Tranché: au 1er de gueules à la tête de cheval contournée de sable, au 2e d'azur à la tour d'argent; à la bande d'argent chargée de trois fourmis de sable brochant sur la partition.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The horse's head symbolizes the equestrian tradition of the town. Indeed, it was in 1618 that the Duke of Lorraine established a stud farm at La Jumenterie. The tower is the one built at the Jumenterie. The Lorraine coat of arms is charged with ants, the nickname given to the inhabitants of Saint Maurice.
