Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 18, 1997.
The upper half shows the lion derived from the arms of the Counts of Gleichen, who ruled the area for many centuries. The lower half shows two battle clubs, derived from the arms of the Lords of Ingersleben. The oldest use of the clubs dates from a seal from Fritz von Ingersleben dating from 1368.
