MERLES-SUR-LOISON
Département : Meuse
Official blason
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on December 16, 2021.
The chief is canting, to blackbirds (merles) above the Loison river. The lily is the symbol for St. Mary and indicates that the former priory in the village was historically dependent on the Cathedral Chapter of Our Lady in Verdun.
The orb is the symbol for St. Christopher, the local patron saint.
The squirrels refer to the local forests. Below the shield is the medal of the Croix de guerre 1914-1918.
