Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on April 14, 1989.

The first quarter shows the arms of France to indicate that Chamagnieu was part of the estate of King François 1st.
The second quarter shows the arms of the Dauphiné region recalling that the local castle was probably built by the Dauphins (crown princes) of France between 1282 and 1338.

The third whows the arms of the Loras family, lords of Chamagnieu and the fourth the arms of the locally important Leyssin family.
