Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, an Avanyu Azure enflamed Gules, a bordure gyronny of eight of the second and Gules. Attached below the shield a Blue scroll inscribed "ADELANTE" in Gold

Origin/meaning

Red, yellow and blue represent the combat arms. The Avanyu is a traditional Pueblo Indian symbol and refers to the unit's home location in New Mexico. The border indicates the unit's heritage and relationship to other New Mexico units.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was authorized on 2 January 1998.
