Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
WILLARINGEN
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Waldshut
Incorporated into : 1975 Rickenbach
Official blazon
In Silber auf grünem Boden eine grüne Tanne mit rotem Stamm.
Origin/meaning
The arms were never officially granted.
The pine tree is derived from the arms of the County Hauenstein, to which the village historically belonged. The 19th century seal of the village showed the pine tree with the motto Vogtei Willaringen. A later seal shows only a garb.
In 1906 and 1957 the State Archives proposed to use the arms of the Lords of Wieladingen, who ruled the village in the early Middle Ages. Their arms showed three violins. The council rejected the proposals and continued to use the pine tree.
