Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on July 7, 1997.

The wavy bend symbolises the La Belaine river, with in its centre a symbol for the former water mill in the village. The sun refers to the stay of King Louis XIV, the 'sun-king' at the local castle in 1668. The anvil refers to the local blast furnace authorized as early as 1753.
