Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on March 12, 1984.
The town is the hometown of the Montgolfier brothers, inventors of the hot air balloon. It is also the place where the first balloon flight took place. Hence the hot air balloon in the arms.
The silver saltire indicates that the village is at a crossroads. The sheet of paper symbolises the development and production of paper in Vidalon since 1777. The sheaf of wheat refers to agriculture and the fleur-de-lys is the symbol of the Vivarais region.
