Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on October 27, 2022.

The ears of wheat symbolize the various cultures; the green color is that of the important meadows which feed a substantial cattle herd, it also represents the local forests.

The Gothic portal is one of the remarkable elements of the church of Venouse, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The cross is based on a wrought iron direction cross secured on a stone plinth in the village. According to local memory, in the Middle Ages, this cross was placed in front of a hospital.

The small shield shows the Y of the department of Yonne.
