Origin/meaning

Vauchassis is located on the territory of the former province of Champagne, which is indicated by the typical bend. The wool spinning industry, the main activity of the village, numbered around fifty people in 1787, is symbolised by the distaff.

The area is renowned for its cider, which is symbolised by the apple. Before belonging to the Counts of Champagne, Vauchassis depended on the Abbot of Saint Germain d'Auxerre, the arms from the Abbey (14th century) are therefore shon in an inescutcheon.
