SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
State : California
Origin/meaning
San Joaquin County is one of the original counties in California, created at the time of statehood in 1850. The county was named for the San Joaquin River and was developed mainly for agriculture purposes.
An original county seal was dominated by a sheaf of grain to represent their agricultural past.
As the county expanded, the current seal was designed in 1962 to symbolize the county’s balanced resources of industry, water and transportation.
