Origin/meaning
The Latin cross reversed stands for Saint Peter. The Spanish explorers and early missionaries who first brought the Gospel to Florida over five hundred years ago are acknowledged by the Spanish colors red and gold (yellow), and by the tower and lion from the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Castille.
The arrowhead stands for the indigenous people of Florida.
The hallbard or battle-axe symbolises Saint-Jude the Apostle, the patron saint of Saint-Petersburg, as it is said that he was martyred in Persia fro preaching the Gospel.
