English | Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a shield shaped embroidered device 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height by 2 13/16 inches (7.14 cm) in width blazoned: Tierce in pairle reversed, Gules, of the like, and Argent, in dexter chief a scroll of the second and a quill pen Azure; in sinister chief a stylized atomic symbol White detailed Blue, the center voided of the field; in base a lamp flamant of the third; all edged with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) Blue border. Attached above the shield, a White scroll inscribed “SUSSEX” in Blue letters edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Blue border.

Origin/meaning
Red, white and blue are the school’s colors. The lamp symbolizes knowledge. The parchment scroll and quill pen represent academic and scholarly achievement. The atomic symbol pertains to progress through technology and science. The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 25 January 2007.
