1ST SPECIAL OPERATIONS CIVIL ENGINEER SQUADRON, US AIR FORCE

History: Constituted as 16 Aviation Squadron (Separate) on 6 April 1942. Activated on 14 April 1942. Redesignated as 16 Aviation Squadron on 1 April 1943. Disbanded on 30 April 1944. Reconstituted, and redesignated as 16 Civil Engineering Squadron, on 31 July 1985. Consolidated (1 October 1993) with the 1 Special Operations Civil Engineering Squadron, which was constituted on 23 February 1993. Activated on 24 March 1993. Redesignated as: 16 Civil Engineering Squadron on 1 October 1993; 16 Civil Engineer Squadron on 1 March 1994. Redesignated as 1 Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron on 16 November 2006.
