Origin/meaning

Red is for Artillery. The Chief alludes to the Campaign Streamer of the War of 1812, in which Companies of the Regiment participated.
The Arrow symbolises the Indian Wars. The Chevron and Stars symbolises service in the Civil War. The Number of Stars indicates the regimental Number.
Service in the China Relief Expeditionary Force in 1900. In which the Regiment served as Infantry. The Crest symbolises service during the Mexican War
and the Philippine Insurrection.
