A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold tower radiating gold rays to either side, having 3 blue windows and issuing from its roof a gold cone bearing an orange lightning flash between two gold wings elevated and their tips curved upon a gold tau cross at either side and enclosing a blue area all above a blue semi-circular scroll inscribed with the words “VOICE OF CONTROL” in gold letters.
Origin/meaning
The central tower and radiance refer to the unit’s airport authority. The three windows allude to vigilance and care for incoming aircraft, the airport and outgoing aircraft. The radio cone symbol and lightning flash denote the technological processes employed to assure accuracy and safety in the unit’s mission. The wings and tau cross represent fixed and rotary wing aircraft under the unit’s jurisdiction
The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 3 December 1979.
