84TH INFANTRY DIVISION RAILSPITTERS (NOW 84TH TRAINING COMMAND), US ARMY
History: Activated 8 August 1917 as 84th Division. Organized 25 August 1917 at Camp Zachary Taylor (Kentucky). Inactivated at the same location on 25 July 1919. Assigned to the Organized Reseve 26 June 1921. Activated 15 October 1924, reorganized at Camp howze (Texas) and re-designated 84th Infantry Division. Inactivated 21 January 1946 at Camp Kilmer (New Jersey).

Origin/meaning
According to tradition this Division traces its origins back to the Illinois Militia Company in which the young Captain Abraham Lincoln served during the Black Hawk War of 1832. The Insignia was chosen to honour this legacy.
