Origin/meaning
The Two stars symbolises the two Ships named for Philippine Sea; CV47 and CG 58. The Trident symbolises the Vertical Launching System and the Striking Power of the Cruiser. The Stylized Sun issuant from the Base symbolises the location of the World War II Battle for which the Ship is named. The Crest symbolises the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Aircraft Carrier USS Philippine Sea (CV 47), which served in the Korean War earing nine Battle Stars.
