I MARINE AMPHIBIOUS CORPS, USMC

History: Formed 1 October 1942 and on 15 April 1944 renamed III Amphibious Corps. The Corps consisted of 3rd Marine Division, 37th Infantry Division (US Army], the New Zealand 8th Brigade and Naval 53rd Naval Construction Battalion (US Navy].
