French | D'or à la bouge [chantepleure] d'azur; au chef de gueules chargé d'un lion léopardé d’or, accosté de deux croisettes pommetées d'argent aux pieds fichés. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The water bouget forms the letter M, initial of the village. The two dappled crosslets come from the arms of the lords of Commercy. They emphasize that, in the past, the city depended on this principality.
The golden leopard lion and the olive branches are taken from the arms of the family of Olivier de Hadonviller for which Méligny the Great was erected into a barony.
The colours are those of the Lorraine region.
