OTTERFING

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Miesbach (until 1972 Wolfratshausen)

Wappen von Otterfing/Arms (crest) of Otterfing
Official blazon
German Über nach oben gebogenem, goldenem Balken in Blau zwei einander zugewendete halbe silberne Steinböcke, darüber drei, zwei zu eins gestellte, goldene Kronen.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 12, 1979.

The three golden crowns are a symbol for the Tegernsee abbey, which already had possessions in the area in 1017. The two ibex are taken from the arms of the Kurz von Senftenau family, who ruled most of the municipality since 1656. The bar in the base of the shield symbolises the Teufelsgraben, a geological formation in the municipality.
