History: Formed in April 1968 by amalgamation of Fighter Command and Bomber Command.

Official blazon
English In front of an annulet wavy azure two flashes of lightning in saltire gules, overall a sword erect Or enfiled of an astral crown of the third.

Motto: Defend and strike.


Origin/meaning

The Annulet is indicative of the Maritime role now Undertaken by the Command. The Ligthning is indicative of the Signals Role, and also come from the Badge of Bomber Command and the Sword is from the Badge of Fighter Command. The Badge was approved in February 1968.
