RANGGEN

State : Tirol
District : Innsbruck-Land

Wappen von Ranggen

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 31, 1987.

The mountain slope refers to the geographical situation of the village high above the Inn valley; the dragon is an attribute of St Magnus, a Benedictine monk to whom the local parish church is dedicated. There is a saying that Magnus killed a dragon which lived near Ranggen - a common parable for the fight against paganism.
