ZERLACH

State : Steiermark
District : Südoststeiermark (until 2015 Feldbach)
Incorporated into : 2015 Kirchbach-Zerlach

Wappen von Zerlach

Official blazon

Über einer silbernen Zinnenmauer im Schildfuß in Rot balkenweise eine silberne Kette von fünf Gliedern, durch zwei derselben sind je drei silberne Ähren gesteckt.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 7, 1984.

Farming plays an important part in the municipality. The wheat-ears represent bread, powerful symbol of life. The chain stands for the church of St. Leonhard, patron of stock-farmers. The base embattled commemorates a castle, which has disappeared.
